Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well. When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great wizard-and just maybe into a better man as well.

Want to get involved at Drexel, but don’t know where to start? Look no further! Joining the Campus Activities Board (CAB) is a great way to gain professional experience and invaluable relationships while having loads of fun. Us CABbies are looking for new blood to improve and make changes to our organization to make the Drexel experience greater!

CAB is the largest undergraduate, student-run event programming organization at Drexel University. Its purpose is to plan and execute a variety of successful events, reflective of the diverse interests and needs of the undergraduate student body. CAB strives, through its programs, to entertain, educate and enrich, while building a cohesive campus community.

CAB is divided into five committees that program a very diverse set of events the Drexel University undergraduate communities. Spring Jam Kickoff Party

Come join CAB to kick off Spring Jam week on May 10th from 4-7pm on the Buckley Volleyball Courts. DJ contest! Free food! Volleyball Tournament! Giveaways! Sign-ups for the volleyball tournament will begin at 4pm. The tournament will begin at 4:30p.m. Teams will be accepted on a first come first serve basis, and only 8 teams will be allowed to compete. Teams may consist of NO MORE THAN 6 people.

Spring Jam Music Video Contest

Want to see your masterpiece immortalized at Spring Jam? Enter the Spring Jam Music Video Contest for your shot at fame! The group with the winning video will have their video shown at Spring Jam. Like the event page on Facebook for the rules!

Rules:

Groups cannot exceed more than 6 (registered) members
Sign up via email to cabmvcontest@gmail.com
Sign up by May 5th
Videos will be due no later than May 13th (the Monday of Spring Jam).
The video may not be longer than 5 minutes.
No visible alcohol containers, drug paraphernalia, weapons, or graphic violence, is allowed in the videos. If this rule is ignored, the groups’ video will be disqualified.
Redoing an entire established music video is plagiarism and will not be permitted. However, short parodies are allowed.
Somewhere in the video the words “Spring Jam” must be legibly presented.
Extra bonus points allotted to a team who can incorporate the most Spring Jam t-shirts into the music video.
The featured song MUST be one by a past Spring Jam artist. Options include: Super Mash Bros, Major Lazer, B.o.B, Diplo, Switch, N*E*R*D, Kevin Rudolph, Lupe Fiasco, Girl Talk, Ben Folds, or any other past artist!

CAB & Apple Pi Present: A Screening of Warm Bodies

A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. CAB Presents: A Screening of Silver Linings Playbook

Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) has lost everything — his house, his job, and his wife. She is also the Co-Founder of FEED Projects, LLC, which is a charitable compant that aims to FEED the world by creating consumer goods in whcih the proceeds go to FEED Foundation. Bobby Bailey and two other friends founded Invisible Children in 2005 after they took a life changing trip to Africa. They fell in love with the children and decided that they would devote all their time and resources to making sure these children would be okay, and that’s all Bobby has been doing since! Invisible Children has grown into a largely recognized world wide organization in just a few short years.

Bobby wants to come in and speak to students about his life changing experience, and hopefully encourage eager students to get active and do something!
