EVENT PLANNER

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

Event Planners are the backbone of CAB and the role that a majority of our members hold. This position is the basis of all operations for the Campus Activities Board and what allows our organization to produce as many quality events as it does each year. Each event planner is responsible for producing events each academic quarter and seeing them through from conception to execution. Any person holding this role will work with other CAB members, student organizations, Drexel faculty + departments, vendors, and various other parties to bring engaging, innovative programming to Drexel University’s student body.

DUTIES:

*Although the list below aims to be a comprehensive view of what this role will entail, all roles on CAB are subject to change and duties are likely to be expanded or contracted during your time serving in this role.

Duties:

  • Conceptualize and present at least (1) event idea (new or returning) to the general board each academic term. If your event proposal is accepted and approved by the general board, you will be responsible for planning it and making sure it is executed well.

  • Submit purchase orders on time for any and all necessary materials, vendor payments, transportation, food, etc. in regard to which event/s you are planning each term.

  • Submit event forms on time, each term, for each event you are planning.

  • Meet and communicate with your respective PR Rep. from the marketing committee and your assigned graphic designer to strategize how you will market your event and what your event’s digital or print assets will look like.

  • Research and communicate with vendors to secure services for your event/s.

  • Advance all event information to vendors, partners, event services, and other people involved in your event.

  • Track and document all progress you make on planning your event/s.

  • Manage the operations of your event during its realization and lead all other CAB volunteers who are helping out with your event/s.

  • Attend weekly committee meetings + weekly GBMs.

  • Complete all surveys that are sent out by the secretary or other members of the executive board.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / PREREQUISITES:

  • Required Experience:

    • No experience required.

  • Preferred Qualities:

    • This person should have a strong work ethic and a commitment to producing high-quality events on a consistent basis. 

    • This person should enjoy working with others and be open to advice or constructive criticism from others.

    • This person should be able to keep a level head in the face of change or uncertainty and should be a good problem solver.
